The Artist’s Way, Reimagined
A Creative Ignatian Retreat
The next session is coming soon!
January 5th – March 29th, 2026

A prayerful, creative retreat shaped by The Artist’s Way and Ignatian Spirituality.
This is not a productivity program.
It is not a self-improvement plan.
And it is not about fixing yourself.
The Artist’s Way, Reimagined is a 12-week guided retreat for creatives who long to hear God, return to their true selves, and do their best work—without pressure, performance, or pretense.
A Retreat, Not a Course
If you’ve tried The Artist’s Way before and found it vague or too broadly religious…
If your spiritual life feels disconnected from your “real life”…
If you are tired of justifying your creativity in the name of productivity…
This retreat was created for you.
Here, participation is not something you have to force.
It is something you learn to receive.
What Makes This Different
This retreat weaves together two time-tested paths:
- The Artist’s Way — with its practices of Morning Pages, artist dates, and gentle self-attunement
- Ignatian Spirituality — with its emphasis on discernment, reflection, imagination, and noticing God’s presence in ordinary life
Together, they form a rhythm that is grounded, open, and attentive.
You will not be asked to perform, share publicly, or keep up.
You will be invited to listen—to your life, your longings, and God’s quiet movements of grace.
What You’ll Practice
Inside the retreat, you’ll be guided through:
- Morning Pages – a safe, private space to unmask and be totally honest
- Imaginative Contemplation – St. Ignatius’ way of meditating on Scripture
- The Examen – daily attentiveness to where God was at work
- Weekly prompts and teachings that connect faith, imagination, and creative healing
Everything is offered as an invitation. As we journey through, you can work with what resonates and let go of what doesn’t.
Who This Retreat Is For
This retreat is especially for:
- Catholic women who want their prayer life to flow into their “real life”
- Who long to hear the voice of God speaking to their hearts
- Artists and creatives who feel blocked, burnt out, or spiritually dry
- Those with sensitive nervous systems, busy minds, or inconsistent energy
- Anyone longing for growth in a space that feels safe, reverent, and truly human
You do not need to be “good at art.”
You do not need to be a “perfect” Catholic.
You only need to be willing to show up.
How It Works
The retreat begins January 5th and will guide us through the following 12 weeks to March 29th.
It is hosted through Patreon, and the tier for the retreat is $5/month for the 3 months it runs – $15 total.
Each week we will be working through The Artist’s Way and St. Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises as a shared rhythm of reflection and creative practice, centered on a guiding theme. All of the retreat content will remain available on my Patreon throughout the retreat (and beyond for members).
You’ll receive:
- All the retreat content and access to weekly live videos
- Ongoing guidance through group chat
- Future access to all the content, videos, exercises, and chats as long as you’re a member
- A quiet, supportive creative home within the Hand Maid studio
In addition, you will need to purchase:
- “The Artist’s Way” book by Julia Cameron
- a notebook.

Why Patreon?
Patreon allows everything to remain available to access, so nothing is rushed and nothing disappears. There is no expectation to keep up or catch up if life interrupts.
While we will be journeying together over a specified amount of time, participants are invited to linger with what is speaking to them and to set aside what is not—trusting that God’s work unfolds differently for each person in each season.
Hosting the retreat on Patreon also means participants are welcomed into the main hub of Hand Maid by Emily—a single, consistent space for creative and spiritual exploration. Rather than moving between platforms or one-off programs, everything lives together in a simple, familiar place.
Patreon supports:
- A singular journey that invites personal pace
- Access to all content
- Freedom to dwell, skip, and return without pressure
- A stable home for the wider work of Hand Maid
- A quieter, more relational alternative to traditional course platforms
This is a retreat we walk through together—
with room to listen, pause, and re-enter as needed.
An Invitation
You are not behind.
You are not broken.
You are not failing at creativity or faith.
This is not about forcing new habits. It’s about coming back to what’s already there.
Come and see.
